Biomechanical Assessments

Measure what matters—symmetry, power, landing, gait mechanics, and movement quality—so your training targets the real limiter.

Force plate analysis (ForceDecks) used during biomechanical assessment

Why get a biomechanical assessment?

  • Clarify the problem: strength vs. power vs. control vs. technique.
  • Track change with objective numbers—not guesswork.
  • Leave with a short, actionable plan that fits your training.

Who it’s for

Runners (form & workload) Jump/landing sports Return‑to‑sport after injury Lifters & Cross‑training Pickleball & racquet sports General fitness—form tune‑ups Gait analysis for neurologic patients Comprehensive balance assessments

What we measure

Force plate profiling

  • Symmetry in stance, squat, and split‑stance
  • Jump/landing metrics (rate of force, impulse, time to peak)
  • Balance under quiet stance and perturbations

Video & joint‑angle analysis

  • Running gait, cutting, and deceleration mechanics
  • Squat/hinge/press technique and tempo control
  • Joint‑by‑joint contribution and alignment cues

sEMG (as needed)

  • Activation timing and co‑contraction
  • Biofeedback to improve recruitment patterns

How it works: Assess → Analyze → Apply

Assess

Collect objective measures with force plates, cameras, and optional sEMG.

Analyze

Interpret findings to locate bottlenecks—capacity, control, technique, or workload.

Apply

You leave with 3–5 targeted drills, dosage, and retest checkpoints.

What you get

  • Plain‑language summary of key findings
  • Clear targets and suggested progressions
  • Video cues or screenshots for technique reminders
  • Follow‑up plan: retest timing and check‑in options

Popular add‑ons

  • Runner’s package: gait analysis + workload plan
  • Jump/landing package: depth jump progressions + landing targets
  • Strength form audit: squat/hinge/press with video cues

By default, biomechanical assessments are cash-based wellness services (no diagnosis or hands-on treatment). With a current prescription/order from an MD/DO/NP/PA specifically requesting a biomechanical PT assessment, we can bill the visit to insurance when your plan supports it and medical necessity is established. Coverage is plan-dependent (deductible/coinsurance may apply) and not guaranteed until benefits are verified. If results indicate a condition that warrants treatment, we’ll recommend a transition to a plan of PT care under your insurance.

FAQs

Do I need to be injured?

No. Many clients use assessments for performance and prevention. If you have pain that limits you, we’ll discuss whether a PT evaluation is better first.

Can you coordinate with my coach?

Yes—share your summary with your coach, or we can send brief notes with your permission.

What should I wear?

Comfortable training clothes and shoes you typically run/lift in. Avoid loose items that block sensors.

How often should I retest?

Every 4–8 weeks, depending on training block and goals.

Ready to see what’s holding you back?

A single session can clarify your next month of training.

When you can measure it, you can improve it. Our biomechanical assessment combines high-resolution motion capture with VALD Health ForceDecks (dual force plates) and a digital dynamometer, all integrated through VALD Hub to turn movement into clear, actionable numbers. We quantify:

  • Gait & Endurance: walking speed, step/stance symmetry, and distance tests

  • Balance & Stability: center-of-mass sway, force-time curves, asymmetry, and rate-of-force development on ForceDecks

  • Joint Mechanics: hip, knee, and shoulder angles; movement quality and control

  • Functional Patterns: sit-to-stand, squat, jumping, functional reach, and daily-task mechanics

You’ll receive a concise report with normative references, trend lines, and targeted progressions. Your personalized exercise library lives in MoveHealth, and our Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) keeps us connected between visits—so your plan adapts to real-world progress.
